We asked all of our teachers here at VMS: What was your first gig? Here is guitar instructor Brandon Chapman's story of his first time performing in front of an audience! <!--break-->
VMS Guitar instructor Brandon Chapman tells us about his first time performing in front of a crowd. He was 14 years old, playing guitar at his Church. Although he seems to have performed well, he did experience some technical difficulties with the amplifier he was using. “The guitar amp worked when it wanted to…” he says. “The brand was Holmes so it was full of mystery.”
“I knew 1/8th Of what I know now and I was excited nervous and all of the above good times!” said Chapman.

My first gig was in front of my whole family.. I practiced twinkle twinkle until my fingers hurt on a cheap guitar from the thrift store. The first note pop'd my high E string and that was the last note I played that evening. They all laughed great times LOL!!!
